If you’ve been paying any attention to home trends over the years, you may have noticed that wallpaper is back, including traditional and large-scale modern patterns, and textures from grasscloth to glossy. We love them all and think it’s the easiest way to add some personality to a space, even the small ones!
Pro Tip #1: Choose the Right Rooms for Wallpaper
When a client says they want something that doesn’t look “builder-grade,” the first question that comes to mind is, “Are you against wallpaper?” Powder rooms, dining rooms and kids’ rooms are some of our favorite places to stick some patterns on the walls. Smaller spaces, especially, are where you can really have fun and go BOLD or even colorful since it doesn’t feel like such a commitment.

Pro Tip #2: Use Wallpaper to Set the Mood
Wallpaper is about so much more than color—it’s about personality. If you’re not into florals or lean more modern, you can still bring walls to life with texture. Use grasscloth if your vibe is more earthy and organic or add a hint of shimmer to catch the sunlight down a boring hallway. Even the most subtle patterns can add depth and warmth for those with traditional or even transitional homes. The truth is that wallpaper is here to stay, and the options are endless.

Pro Tip #3: Select Appropriately-Scaled Wallpaper Patterns
Scale plays a huge role in interior design, and we take it carefully into consideration when selecting wallpaper for our clients. Smaller scale patterns can make a room feel more open and balanced. I usually reserve bold, oversized prints for larger areas where they have room to breathe and let subtle patterns do the talking in smaller spaces.

Creating a Seamless Design with Wallpaper
When selecting wallpaper, we always consider your style, the surrounding colors and textures, and the feeling we want to evoke the moment someone walks into the room. Wallpaper is art, but it should always feel like part of the home’s design DNA, which ultimately comes from you. (Read more here about how we design spaces that reflect your unique personality.)
